There are always going to be supporters and detractors to every situation in life.  If you are like me, then you are really just sick of hearing about the whole Tiger Woods situation.  In addition, you might have also found Tiger’s “press conference” rather dictator like.  His refusal to speak unless his demands and requirements were met, reminded me very much of Castro in Cuba, Amadinijead in Iran and others.  While he is the one speaking, and has his choice to speak or not to speak, a right in this country, if he was really interested in opening up, he would have spoke and allowed everyone to attend.

I commend the Golf Writers Association for having some teeth and refusing to attend.  However, it’s not like that was a hard decision.  Their boycott didn’t really do much to show their strength.  After all, it’s not like they would have been able to ask questions, had they been in attendance.  They didn’t really miss out on anything.  Why waste the money to send someone there, when everything was going to be shown on television live?  Their so called boycott was merely a spin off for a few seconds of publicity.

To be honest, before Tiger’s press conference, I didn’t even really know there was an actual Golf Writer’s Association.  If they really want to make a statement, I would like to see them boycott Tiger all together.  How about not showing up to his first tournament back from rehab?  That would be the only scenario that I can see actually having any affect, and even then I doubt people will really care.  It will only take one Tiger win before 90% of his audience and followers forget what happened and start following him again and cheering him.  There will always be detractors, but he is arguably the most recognizable and popular athlete in the world.  People love champions, and that is what Tiger is.
