Good golf for the priceIt's definitely called "The Great Outdoors" for a good reason. I encounter a lot of wasps, ants, and no-see-ums. And it's a bit on the swampy side, but at $26 for 18 holes, a cart, and a hot dog it's a great bargain. The starter was a friendly fellow and sometimes the "older" starters aren't very respectful to me as I am a 29 year old golfer who looks about 21, and I often get a bit of condescension from golf course staff who are 60+ for some reason. Not the case here. The driving range could use some better yardage markings. Fairways and Greens in great shape, but I would recommend bringing extra balls because if you're not on them, your ball is likely to get lost in the thickets of the rough. Lost more balls today than I have in a long time and only 3 of those were lost in the water or out of bounds - the rest were hidden in thick grass and you had to be on top of your ball to even see it in many cases. Restaurant inside was pretty nice. I'd give it a 2.75 - 3 on a 1-5 scale overall. Could be higher if they maintained the other parts (other than greens/fairways) of the course a little better. Course RatingsPros Payed $26 for 18 holes with a cart so on a budget that's a plus. Fairways were in great shape but they are narrow so hit 'em straight or suffer on this course. 2 Restrooms mid-course was a plus. Greens are pretty nice and rolled true. Free hotdog in the clubhouse after your round :) Cons Anything off the fairway was in such thick grass that you had to be on top of your ball to find it, which means my score was probably 5-7 strokes too high due to poor conditions off the fairway. Balls just disappeared in the "afro-turf" as I llike to call it - even balls CLOSE to the fairway. Course is a little soggy and it's pretty dry around here so I'd bet during wet season it's a swamp. I played during the heat of the day so the humid, muggy air under the summer sun was rather uncomfortable. Smells of decaying vegetation were abundant. No beverage cart when we played (Sat 10 am tee time) Our round took 5 hours to play with a 2-some which tells you that there was little enforcement of slow play. On a positive note I got to have a lot of conversation with my Dad so sometimes slow play can be a plus. Would you golf here again? yes Would you recommend this course to a friend?

one of my fav coursesPROS: Course RatingsPros Course was in beautiful shape. They aerified pretty recently and the course really bounced back well, which tells me that teh aerification scheduled for this week will probably also not ultimately affect the fun factor. This is a well maintained course. The greens had a lot of elevation which made for some challenging approaches and putts. True rolling greens, good tee boxes from the golds, nice fairways. Cons Aerification scheduled to start today (Monday Aug 3). Also, many of the gold tees had some high grasses and shrubs directly in front of them that made for a minor "speed bump" for those who have a low trajectory tee shot. My partner hit the high grass on multiple holes which can shave a few yards of distance off. Would you golf here again? yes Would you recommend this course to a friend? yes Recently Aerified? yes
