Callaway Gardens Lake View Course

User rating

4.0 (1)

Renovated in 2002, 18-hole Lake View is Callaway's original golf course, designed by J.B. McGovern and Dick Wilson. Cason Callaway himself provided the inspiration for Lake View's layout. Mr. Callaway believed that playing golf should be a pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings.

Lake View's challenge lies in its nine water holes and its landscaping of azaleas, dogwoods and seasonal flowers.

The dramatic renovations to this course include new bunkers, TifEagle greens, new cart paths and improved landscaping. For those who have not played Lake View recently, you'll find the changes quite pleasing.

The 6,031-yard par 70 course is well known for hole Number 10 with its island tee and serpentine bridge over Mountain Creek Lake to the green in front of the original clubhouse.

From regular tees, the course rating is 68.6 with a slope rating of 123. From ladies' tees, the course rating is 71.1 and the slope is 121.

Pros
Good Condition, Challenging Layout but wide open. Fun course to play.
Cons
After 9 holes, there is no clubhouse, you have to keep driving. Rather ridiculous for them to allow you to go out at 6pm, not send anyone out to get you or advise you that the 9th hole doesn't lead to the clubhouse. Took 1 hour to get back to the clubhouse in the pitch black. No homes on the course made it more difficult to get back though that is normally a positive.
