Chambers Bay- 9-8-2010

See pros and cons.

This is definitely a new star in the making. The staff is friendly but all amenities except the course are poor. This is a walking only course, if you wear sans-a-belt slacks you should skip this course or bring a defibrillator!

The greens have more elevation changes than most fairways! This is the only bad feature of the entire course. On the bright side the greens roll medium fast and true.

The views from every hole are beautiful and almost all have water views.

I rate this course the number four destination course in the U.S., Behind the Bandon Dunes courses, Pebble Beach courses and Whistling Straits courses.

Course Ratings

Pros
Chambers is the home to the 2010 U.S Amateur and the 2015 U.S.Open. The course drains like sink (which is good because it rains a lot!) No homes, great views, not a single tree or a drop of water to contend with. Wide fairways in great condition.
Cons
Poor and distant driving range. No carts allowed. If you are not in good aerobic condition you are going to suffer as this course has dramatic and never ending elevation changes. The green complexes are beyond difficult, many are simply goofy. The only thing missing is a windmill to putt through. The greens are kept medium fast and roll true. Never, never, never hit your approach shot short of the hole! If you are 80 yards or less out you may receive your ball back at your feet!
